Collaboration aims to produce more highly-skilled cybersecurity professionals in the country

Kaspersky recently signed a three-year agreement with Temasek Polytechnic (TP), an institute of higher learning in Singapore, to provide cybersecurity courses for corporate practitioners and members of the public in Singapore. This partnership reinforces the global cybersecurity company’s commitment to support the upskilling of the country’s cyber defense talent pool.

Stephan Neumeier, Managing Director for Asia Pacific (APAC) at Kaspersky, and John Leong, Director of the Temasek SkillsFuture Academy, signed a training collaboration agreement on August 26, in TP.

Under this partnership, Kaspersky has committed to provide training and accreditation as an “Authorized Trainer for Kaspersky” to TP. This aims to strengthen the institution’s reputation as a training provider for the professional development of adult learners.

“We are very excited to embark on this partnership with Temasek Polytechnic to develop tailor-made cybersecurity courses for more Singaporeans. To meet the challenges of the future economy, it is imperative for private companies like us to help develop a pool of cybersecurity experts who can help build a nation’s digital resilience. We are well aware that the shortage of IT talent continues to pose a challenge to Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative and with this collaboration, we hope to mold more future-ready local talents in the field of cybersecurity,” says Stephan Neumeier, Managing Director, APAC, Kaspersky, following the ceremony.

The collaboration will further develop a robust and meaningful relationship between the two organizations and facilitate knowledge transfer from Kaspersky to TP staff under a “train-the-trainer” programme, ensuring that the institution’s trainers are always at the forefront of the latest cybersecurity technologies and trends.

“As the lead Institution of Higher Learning for the emerging cybersecurity sector, Temasek Polytechnic is committed to being at the forefront of combating malicious attacks. TP is delighted to partner with  Kaspersky to provide cybersecurity programmes that are vital to any business in the age of digital transformation. We look forward to the exchange of expertise that will further enhance our suite of courses in this field, in our continued effort to upskill working professionals against evolving digital threats,” comments John Leong, Director of the Temasek SkillsFuture Academy.

Within the new agreement, TP will manage and deliver Kaspersky-developed courses in malware reverse engineering; incident response and digital forensics, as well as security monitoring and cyber threat hunting under the SkillsFuture Series, culminating in the award of joint certificates by TP and Kaspersky.

Kaspersky recognizes the important role cybersecurity education has to play for enterprises and public in managing an increasing volume of constantly evolving threats. The global cybersecurity company has since launched projects around the world to address the global talent shortage.
