FREDERICK, Md., Feb. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Visit Frederick today announced that the Frederick Visitor Center, located at 151 S. East Street in Frederick, will temporarily close from March 3 to 7, 2025, to complete the final stage of ongoing updates to the facility. The closure will allow for the installation of new exhibits that further enhance the visitor experience.
During the temporary closure, visitors can access a limited-service Visitor Center space at The Delaplaine Arts Center, located at 40 S. Carroll Street, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There, guests will find popular maps, brochures, and parking validation for out-of-county visitors.
While retail and gift card sales will not be offered at the temporary location, those wishing to purchase or inquire about Downtown Frederick Gift Cards may call 301-600-4046 Monday through Friday between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM to place orders over the phone. In-person pickup can be scheduled on a case-by-case basis.
Constructed in 1899, the historic building housing the Frederick Visitor Center has served multiple purposes over its long history. In 2011, Visit Frederick – then known as the Tourism Council of Frederick County – opened the center at this site to showcase Frederick County’s diverse attractions. The current project marks the conclusion of a multi-year renovation process that began in 2023 with the unveiling of a new theater and orientation film.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to deliver an even more informative and inviting Visitor Center experience,” said Executive Director Dave Ziedelis. “When we reopen, guests will discover new exhibits that celebrate Frederick County’s history and culture, providing an exciting and immersive introduction to everything our region has to offer.”
The Frederick Visitor Center is scheduled to reopen to the public on March 8, 2025, unveiling its refreshed exhibits and fully reimagined visitor experience. A ribbon-cutting with the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 3 PM and is open to the public.
